I grew up in an abusive home where violence was “normal”. I was introduced to the welfare system at a young age but I was never removed from my family, my home, my friends, or my life as I knew it. As bad as I thought I had it, there were other kids who had it worse. There were kids out there who had to move to a new school, had to make new friends, and who were constantly getting something “new” to deal with. CASA and the Light of Hope Auxiliary spoke to me because I wanted to make a difference to a child who felt that with all these “new” changes in their lives, there could be one constant. A beacon of hope to make each day a little easier knowing that someone is on their side and only looking out for what is best for them. That is what Light of Hope and CASA are all about. Shining a light of hope that these children are not alone and together we can help stop the cycle of violence.
Light of Hope Auxiliary supports CASA in all their events, helps fundraise, and recognizes their Advocates when they have tough assignments. Light of Hope offers yearly memberships of $25 or Life Memberships for $250. If helping abuse and neglected children speaks to you, we would love to have anyone interested call the CASA office at 806-373-2272 for more information on becoming a CASA volunteer or a Light of Hope board member.
Sincerely,
Olivia Henderson
