Volunteer Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Director of Advocacy                                                        Status: Full Time

FLSA Status: Non Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

Experience in training, management, development and retention of advocates.  Additional experiences in the following areas are preferred:  volunteer management, civil court system, and child abuse and neglect issues.

The Volunteer Supervisor must also possess strong organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, knowledge of children’s services, effective volunteer management, effective time management, and the ability to plan and lead in a strategic manner.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • All newly hired Volunteer Supervisors are required to attend and complete the volunteer pre-service training as well as complete 12 hours of continuing education  per year ( to include but not limited to: conferences, Café CASA, workshops offered in the community and CASA College).
  • Supervise volunteers assigned to your case load following the successful completion of training, court room observation and swearing in of a volunteer. Provide ongoing monitoring and guidance to volunteers.
  • Full time Volunteer Supervisors will supervise up to a maximum of 30 volunteers and a maximum of 45 cases. The number of volunteers is reduced pro rata for staff required to perform duties other than the supervision of volunteers.
  • Maintain case files according to compliance and procedures.
  • Provide support and guidance for volunteers on cases, and supervises all aspects of each case monthly and from beginning to end.
  • Coordinate and submit court reports to Director of Advocacy for final approval.
  • Facilitates effective communication between volunteers, SSCC, Child Protective Services, courts, attorneys and other relevant parties and consults with such regarding volunteer assignments. Represent CASA in a positive and professional manner.
  • Communicate status of current cases to the Director of Advocacy on a regular basis.
  • Ensure proper procedures for closing of a case is performed and is in compliance with the policies and procedures
  • Provide volunteer advocate with case information in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that court reports are reviewed, cosigned with the volunteer, and filed/emailed to all parties 10 days prior to court hearings. Submit reports to Director of Advocacy for final approval.
  • Assist in developing and implementing program goals.
  • Participate in volunteer training and help coordinate volunteer recognition.
  • Report concerns regarding an advocate to Director of Advocacy
  • Report a volunteer’s concerns to Director of Advocacy.
  • Evaluate Advocates on a regular basis and at the closing of each case.
  • Understand and comply with grant requirements.
  • Understand Texas CASA and National CASA standards, vision and mission.
  • Enter documentation and data in Optima and ensure that data entered is current and reviewed on a regular basis.
  • Will be required to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Will be required to travel some.
  • Will participate in program events, projects and other duties as required.

Education: Coursework in Psychology, Social work or a related field. B.S. or B.A. in social services field preferred.
